Presentacion

Principal

Amide the weighty grandeur that typifies the city's food and interiors, Café Bacacay is a breath of fresh air. Montevideo being a vegetable-free zone, owner Regina Rebmann nonetheless manages to find enough roughage to keep her menu light and luscious. Fresh, too, is the sleek, cool interior and the hip clientele that whiles away steamy afternoons people-watching from the cute sidewalk terrace.

Main page
Cafe Bacacay was named after the little street that is born in Montevideo’s most important opera house, Teatro Solis. In 1995, the interest in creating a new gastronomic style in Montevideo’s Old City, led to reform an old Montevidean restaurant, with special emphasis on the aesthetics and the cuisine.
The restaurant was erected in an 1844 historical building. This, combined with its international cuisine, made of Cafe Bacacay a different proposal which changed the neighbourhood for good.
An exquisite and diverse menu, where meals are served at all times of the day, has made of Cafe Bacacay a symbol of the neighbourhood and the city. So much so, that it now seems that the street was named after the cafè, which is often used to give foreigners directions: “go along the street of Cafe Bacacay”.
